Carbon Lite is an independently assured reduced-carbon steel solution. It helps you achieve your short-term carbon reduction targets and strengthen your green brand.
Through an insetting, mass-balanced approach, Carbon Lite delivers real, measured CO₂e reductions generated by direct decarbonisation projects within Tata Steel Nederland’s operations. These upstream steel CO₂ reductions are realised in the packaging steel supply chain towards you, ensuring the benefits are embedded in your own value chain.

By choosing Carbon Lite steel, you receive a third party assured declaration stating the mass-balanced reduced intensity of the steel, providing a transparent and credible way to substantiate sustainability claims and reduce CO2 emissions.
How Carbon Lite Steel works
- The CO₂ reduction happens at the steel supplier through reducing the CO2 emissions in production processes.
- The supplier allocates the reduction to a defined portion of steel via third-party-verified mass balance.
- The CO2 reduction declaration made by the steel supplier is directly forwarded to you, our customer.
- Customers receive a verified declaration stating the percentage of CO₂ reduction tied to the purchased material.
