Climate protection

We take our environmental responsibility seriously on all our operations. That is why we identify, control and measure our activities doing everything we can to reduce their environmental impact, one of the tools used are implementation of ISO 14001.

All initiatives count – operational excellence with a minimum of energy consumption, heat recovery of surplus energy, maximization of recycling and optimization of the use of secondary packaging material and waste management to e.g. limit water consumption is just some of the initiatives we have focus on.

We have invested in the only drying oven in the world that allows energy saving up to 70%

In our factory in Mazatlan, Mexico, we have invested in the only drying oven in the world that allows energy saving up to 70% in our print shop, even tough we already were in full compliance of local regulations.

The EcoTNV technology reduces the level of CO² emissions and minimizes energy cost per sheet as well as it also produces clean air. The HighEcon drying oven with EcoTNV technology represents the most economical form of air purification system for use in metal sheet lacquering operations.

This investment complies with Envases focus on operational excellence with a minimum of energy consumption - the new technology ensures that we meet the lowest possible emissions for this type of varnishing lines in the world and is an example of how we take our part of our common responsibility for the global climate.

“Heat Recovery”
- surplus heat for local community

Our factory in Odense, Denmark provides surplus heat from the production plant to the local community for conversion into hot water for residents´ heating systems.

The energy comes from the plant’s coatings workshop, where it is captured and then used to heat water to a temperature of ca. 75 °C. The hot water is distributed via a 1.800km long network of pipes that links the factory with local households. Today, this provides heating equalling the consumption of 1000 households.

Through this scheme, we convert the surplus energy of our can production to a resource and uses it efficiently for the benefit of the Danish population instead of it being wasted. In this way we help to lower fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Envases has been contributing to this system since fall 2013.

The initiative perfectly complies with our goal of contributing to our common responsibility for the global climate.

Care for our environment

We take part in the global climate responsibility together with our employees and their families with our annual reforestation campaign.

Not only do we contribute to natural and intentional restocking of existing forests and woodlands that have been depleted. Reforesting also rectifies or improves the quality of human life by soaking up pollution and dust from the air, rebuild natural habitats and ecosystems and mitigate global warming.

We encourage all Envases employees and their families in Mexico to participate in the event and so making a joint contribution to our climate responsibility.

Envases in Mexico, has obtained the Distivtive ESR 2016 certificate of Cemefi for the third year in a row, for meeting Cemefi's standards of corporate social responsiblitiy in the areas of quality, ethics and corporate governance, engagement, community care and preservation of the environment.

Recycling Centre
– technical material waste is recycled to new raw material

Our factory in Skive, Denmark has established a recycling centre in cooperation with aluminium supplier Hydro, where we sort technical material waste into various alloys.

The technical material waste is pressed into AluCubes at high pressure so that it is optimised for the recycling process at Hydro Aluminium in Norway.

At Hydro the AluCubes are incorporated into the production of new raw materials for the manufacturing process in Skive.

We send tonnes of AluCubes for recycling every week. The AluCubes represent around 20% of our metal consumption in the production process of new raw materials for the manufacturing at the Skive plant.
